About The Founder

Alexander Antony Jabamalai is the driving force behind ‘NEXT MISSION CAREERS’, a Freelance Career Advisory platform dedicated to guiding Veterans, their Wards, and Civilian Youths towards meaningful futures.

A fourth-generation Veteran and former Petty Officer of the Indian Navy, his journey began at sea, where he embraced the challenges of seafaring life and built resilience through diverse security roles. After completing his service in the Navy, he expanded his career across the Merchant Navy, Manufacturing, Corporate Security, and International Administration, where he grew into positions of leadership and responsibility.

His professional voyage took him across the globe — Africa, the Caribbean, North & South America, Europe, Alaska, and the Middle East — where he handled critical security assignments and senior administrative roles, while also adapting to diverse cultural and professional environments. During his assignments with United Nations Missions in post-war zones, he worked closely with underprivileged youth, mentoring them towards education, empowerment, and employability.

From sailor to mentor, his life reflects the belief that experience gained in seafaring, security, and leadership can be transformed into opportunities for the next generation. This unique blend of military discipline, global exposure, and humanitarian service forms the foundation of Next Mission Careers — ensuring that no Veteran, Ward, or Civilian Youth is left behind in finding their Next Mission.

Steering From The Lower Deck: Real Leadership Beyond Rank

A powerful memoir by our founder that redefines leadership through real-life experience, resilience, and responsibility—both at sea and beyond.

BOOK DESCRIPTION

Steering From The Lower Deck: Leadership Lessons from a Sailor’s Memoir is a rare and groundbreaking work—offering an authentic perspective on leadership from the Other Ranks of the Indian Navy.

Unlike traditional military books, this memoir shares the voice of sailors who work behind the scenes—seamen, radar plotters, and gunners—whose discipline and vigilance keep operations running.

From a ‘fauji’ childhood and training at INS Chilka to years at sea and transition into civilian life, the journey highlights leadership shaped by responsibility, trust, and endurance—not rank.

It also reflects deeply personal battles, including overcoming Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, emphasizing resilience, identity, and mental strength.

This book is not about theories—it’s about lived leadership.
